As autumn approaches, West Lake is preparing to welcome visitors with a golden, fragrant celebration of one of its most beloved seasonal traditions. On October 16, the 2025 “Sweet Osmanthus Bloom in Manjuelong Village” cultural event will open, inviting everyone to enjoy the season’s very first cup of osmanthus-infused Longjing tea. Hosted by Xihu Subdistrict, and organized by Manjuelong Village, this will be hybrid event blending tea culture, cultural heritage, and nature into an unforgettable experience.
Visitors can look forward to a full day of osmanthus viewing, tea tasting, traditional craft demonstrations, and interactive activities - with plenty of surprises in store. A special heritage market (featuring traditional crafts and local culture) will fill the village with nearly 100 stalls offering everything from freshly cooked osmanthus congee to handmade osmanthus syrup. Don’t miss the photo-worthy “Osmanthus Scent Stops” - every corner offers a picture-perfect moment straight out of a classical painting.
The local authority said that the ideal temperature for osmanthus flowering ranges between 15°C and 28°C, with humidity above 75% during bud development. With current forecasts, another wave of blooms is expected around October 16 - quite in time for the festivities.
Another reason to mark your calendar: From October 18 to November 10, in every Saturday morning, 20 guests of honor called “Osmanthus Ambassadors” will be invited to Manjuelong Village to enjoy free osmanthus-scented Longjing or black tea at the village’s cultural pavilion. Stroll through its heritage market, breathe in the sweet autumn air, and join us in celebrating the golden season.
